Katie Baker won the award for best second year paper with a well-executed paper titled "Heat and Bottled Water Expenditures: Evidence from California." Katie wondered if households adapt to extreme temperatures and domestic well failures by purchasing bottled water in retail chains.

ARE Professor Emeritus George Judge's 100th birthday celebration was held in the department on Friday May 2nd, 2025.

She is receiving her Phd this year from Stanford University and her research interests include macroeconomics, finance, environmental economics, and real estate. Shifrah studies questions related to environmental economics and climate change. A warm welcome Shifrah.

It is co-authored with Alexander Abajian, Kyle Meng, and Olivier Deschênes.
