Façades

Urban and water façades are the main themes in Sofia Berto Villas-Boas' (bio) recent work. The façade of a house reflects its history, its architect, its inhabitants and its neighborhood, even when isolated and conserved in a painting. Water sometimes is a reflecting façade, mirroring the surrounding objects while also transforming and extending them.

This series of work consists of eighteen soft and velvety pastel paintings. Besides from the immediacy of translating the image onto the working surface, the medium of pastel reflects light in each of its particles.
