My evaluation of student performance will be based on problem sets, two exams, and an empirical project. For first year graduate students in ARE, the paper may also satisfy the departmental econometrics requirement.
In addition to the problem sets, we will also sometimes assign exercises. These will sometimes be remedial, or sometimes extend points made in the lectures. Students will be held responsible for the material treated in these exercises, although you are not required to complete them. However, we will provide feedback on the exercises for those who complete them. Having completed the exercises may help improve your grade if your performance is otherwise poor, but will not otherwise be taken into account in calculating your grade.
