Requirements for the Course

Students should be acquainted with basic statistics and linear algebra, at the level these topics are presented in ARE 211.

I intend to take very seriously the first two syllables of ``econometrics.'' A knowledge of economic analysis at roughly the level it is taught in Economics 201 is presupposed.

Because modern econometrics almost invariably involves the use of modern computers, students are expected to have at least a rudimentary familiarity with the UNIX operating system.
