Problem Sets

There will be six problem sets assigned during the term, roughly every two and one half weeks. Problem sets will usually involve tackling some particular empirical problem, and consist of some economic analysis, some application of statistics, and some computer work.

We will be using a variety of software, including Stata and Matlab on a unix platform; students in ARE should already have accounts on are.berkeley.edu. Students who have no such account should see the TA to make the appropriate arrangements.

In general, problem sets should present results and explanations neatly and in an organized fashion. Programming will be required in order to complete most problem sets.
