Dan Hammer received 2017 Pritzker Award for his work to make environmental information more accessible to journalists. He earned is PhD from UC Berkeley, where he was a Fellow at the Berkeley Institute for Data Science. He has served as a Senior Policy Advisor in both the Obama White House and at NASA. Dan was the Chief Data Scientist at the World Resources Institute, where he co-founded Global Forest Watch -- an online platform to monitor deforestation from satellite imagery. Dan is a National Geographic Fellow, an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, and a TEDx speaker. He graduated with high honors in mathematics and economics from Swarthmore College, where he was a Lang Opportunity Scholar and a Watson Fellow.
