Her paper titled "Sex, Power, and Adolescence: Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Behaviors" and co-authored with Jennifer Seager, Joao Montalvao, and Markus Goldstein evaluates the impact of two different interventions designed to reduce the rates of intimate partner violence in adolescents in Sub-Saharan Africa. Adolescent females were offered a goal-setting intervention to improve sexual and reproductive health and males were offered a soccer-based intervention, which educates and inspires young men to make better sexual and reproductive health choices. The authors found that both interventions significantly reduced female reports of intimate partner violence. The intervention improved male attitudes around violence and risky sexual behaviors and empowered women to take control of their sexual and reproductive health by exiting violent relationships.
