ARE welcomes Ignacio Banares-Sanchez as a new Assistant Professor starting in the Fall of 2026. Ignacio's research interests combine two of our main fields: development and environmental economics. He is an exciting colleague in that he uses tools from applied microeconomics, spatial economics, and empirical industrial organization, combining structural models with primary data collection, field experiments, and novel historical data sources. Ignacio will join us in ARE in the Fall, and we cannot wait to welcome him into the ARE academic life and to see where he will take our department!
