The paper titled "The Value of Clean Water: Experimental Evidence from Rural India" and joint with Amir Jina and Anant Sudarshan uses a 60,000 household experiment in India to estimate the demand for clean drinking water. They show the promise of decentralized water treatment combined with home delivery in sealed, reusable containers for improving access to clean drinking water at low cost. Experimental results are recover revealed-preference measures of household valuation, with estimates of willingness-to-pay several times higher than prior indirect estimates.
