My research interests lie at the interface of limnology, palaeoecology, and biogeography on questions related to the distribution of diatoms. I am fascinated by how aquatic communities respond to environmental changes across space and time. I have recently started developing ideas on paleoecological-scale resilience, integrating data reflecting biophysical and social processes to understand the dynamics of complex socio-ecological systems.
