Environmental and Resource Economics
Requirements and Schedule
Place and Time
1. Prerequisites: Econ 201AB and ARE 201-2.
2. Paper:
A paper describing a researchable topic in environmental and resource economics is due on Thursday, May 2. The paper should be approximately 10 pages long, double spaced, and typed. One alternative is to identify an economic problem, argue for the importance of the problem, and describe the approach to be taken, sketching (but not solving) a model. For an empirical paper, the identification of data sources, the specification of a model that uses those sources, and some prose about how the anticipated regression would indeed settle the question are required. Alternatively, a literature review of a topic in environmental and resource economics in the form of an annotated bibliography may be submitted. The point of such a review would be to identify an area of the literature that is not satisfactory and to propose how one might do better.
The paper will count 50% of the final grade.
3. Take Home exam
A take-home exam will be given out in class at the end of the semester. The exam will count 50% of the final grade.
4. Incompletes will be granted only to those with extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
