AAEA Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Awarded To 2016 ARE Alumnus Obie Porteous

2016 ARE alumnus Obie Porteous has been selected to receive this year's Agricultural & Applied Economics Association’s prestigious Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award for "Essays on Agricultural Trade in Sub-Saharan Africa". The Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award is given in recognition of development of professional excellence by persons writing doctoral dissertations in any field consistent with the AAEA Vision Statement:

The AAEA will be the leading organization for professional advancement in, and dissemination of, knowledge about agricultural, development, environmental, food and consumer, natural resource, regional, rural, and associated areas of applied economics and business.

A maximum of three awards are given each year, and a $1000 cash prize accompanies each award.

Obie is currently Assistant Professor in the department of Economics at Middlebury College in Vermont.  Congratulations Obie!
