Water is essential to agriculture, and
not only to sustain plant growth. People need it too. Hundreds of thousands
of agricultural workers in California perform strenuous tasks in hot weather,
and they are at risk of injury from heat stress. In this site you will
find information regarding the importance of fluid replacement during the
workday, physiological effects of dehydration, legal requirements for providing
water in the workplace, links to relevant sites, and other resources for
research as well as practical use in the field.
This site is under development at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, College of Natural Resources, UC Berkeley. Please send us your suggestions, comments, and questions. |
