Kamta Prasad is the Vice-President of India Water Partnership and India's representative for the formation of South Asian Water Partnership, both of which are part of the Stockholm-based Global Water Partnership. He is also the founder Chairman of the Institute for Resource Management and Economic Development, Delhi, which is a leading institute dealing with agro-economic and policy aspects of water resources in India. Prasad was Chairman, Agricultural Prices Commission, Government of India in 1976; Member (Economics) National Flood Commission, Government of India, 1977-1980; Professor of Economics in institutions of national importance in India from 1970 to 1996; President of the Indian Economic Association in 1983; Adviser to the International Economic Association 1983-86; Chairman/Member of several national commission committees, consultant to several international organisations like, Asian Development Bank, FAO, UNESCO, Ford Foundation. He is the author of several books and research papers, and has given lectures around the world.
