CALIFORNIA AGRICULTURE:
DIMENSIONS AND ISSUES
In coordination with the publication of the volume "California Agriculture:
Dimensions and Issues," edited by Jerry Siebert and published by the Giannini
Foundation, the Foundation hosted a one-day conference in Sacramento that
was inspired by the content of the volume. The conference was held
on May 28, 2004.
The organizing principal of the conference was a dialogue between practitioners,
policymakers, and the academic experts that are the authors of the book's
chapters. The conference surveyed the challenges that the environmental
and political context in California, the United States, and the larger world
presents to the agricultural sector in California, but also highlighted the
challenges that agricultural producction presents to California's environment
and society.
