On December 1 I posted an E$E TV story on emissions trading and the "clean development mechanism" in the Kyoto Agreement.
Final projects are due December 9.
Everyone should be aware that there is a penalty (explained in "Description of term paper") for turning in the project reports and/or the final paper late.
I have posted the updated "schedule for reading" for the rest of the semester. I have assigned very little new reading for the end of the semester. You can use this additional time to work on your papers, and to read the material that was previously assigned, that you might not have gotten to.
Remember that the second progress report is due Nov 15. Please read the instructions again. In particular, note that I want you to staple your first progress report to the second progress report. When you turn in your final paper, I want you to attach BOTH progress reports.
On November 11 I posted lecture notes for the Theory of the Second Best.
On November 1 I posted two sets of notes (in the box that contains lecture notes) on the Ricardian and on the Hecksher-Ohlin-Samuelson models.
On October 27 I posted (in the box on miscellaneous interesting articles) a news story about the costs and benefits of a recent proposal to cut carbon emissions in the US.
My mailbox is in 207 Giannini. The folder attached to the board next to my office in 313 Giannini is NOT a mailbox.
On October 25 I posted lecture notes (in the box below) on the expropriation clause in Chapter 11; this was the subject of the lecture on October 20. I also posted lecture notes on the precautionary principle, the subject of lecture on October 25.
I am returning 17 of the progress reports to you unread, because they do not contain one of the required features. See the second paragraph (italicized) of http://are.berkeley.edu/courses/EEP131/termpaper.pdf. If you return the corrected progress report to me by Tuesday October 25 there will be no late penalty.
On October 17 I posted two articles (box below) on problems related to over-fishing. I also posted an update of the schedule for readings. Check it out from time to time!
Remember that the first of two progress reports on you term paper is due October 18.
On 10/5 I posted lecture notes on the Gains from Trade in the "Lecture note box".
On 10/3 I posted lecture notes on the Coase theorem in the box below this one. From time to time I will post "technical" lecture notes in that box.
On 10/3 I posted an article "Trends in Manufacturing Employment". This article supplements some of the reading from Nuemayer.
I posted a "Greenwire" article on taxpayer cost of Endangered Species Act reform. This is relevant to discussion of Nafta's Chapter 11.
I have posted (in the box below) an Economist article that discusses whether the WTO is effective in promoting trade.
On 9/20 I posted (in the box below) an article in which Deardorff discusses examples of corporate influence in trade policies. These examples include TRIPs and Chapter 11 of NAFTA. I also posted the handout for databases and library search.
On 9/21 I posted an E&E TV interview with a CAFTA opponent. The webpage Environment and Energy Daily, at http://www.eenews.net/EEDaily.php is a great source of environment-relevant news. In particular, check out their Greenwire at http://www.eenews.net/Greenwire.php and their TV interviews at http://www.EandE.tv.
