There are three types of files:

• Excel files with extension .xls
  
• Word files with extension .doc
  
• PDF files with extension .pdf which are readable by Adobe Acrobat Reader
  

Click on the file

Depending on how Netscape's preferences are set, the file will

• either open up the program that the file requires (Word, Excel, or Acrobat Reader) automatically,
  
• or you will receive a prompt asking you where you want to save the file.
  Choose a location that you will easily find again! And save the file.
  Once the file is saved, you should be able to open it with the following standard procedure
  
  • Exit Netscape
  • Launch Word, Excel, or Acrobat Reader
  • Choose Open from the menu, and open your saved file.
    

  Potential problem may arise with Word files, if you do not have the same or a newer version of Word than the software that was used to create the files.
