Information Update
I am so so sorry for the difficult conditions for the final, once more. I really appreciated how calm and cooperative every one of you was, which allowed us to continue the exam.
The final grades are posted below. Eventhough the grades on the midterm and on the final are quite good, we are afraid that some of you may have been more disturbed than others by these conditions. Hence, with your GSIs, we have decided to raise up by 5% the distribution of letter grades. This says that As are given to roughly 35% of the class, Bs down to 75% and only 25% of the students have Cs and below.
I am sending a report to the Chancellor's office regarding these problems of fire alarms. Several of you have sent e-mail or told us your frustration. I really share it, and I will voice your anger and your request that something more than the simple dissuasion policy that we are implementing be done.
I wish you a well deserved vacation and happy holidays. Elisabeth Sadoulet
