If you give 24 hours advanced warning that you cannot make a midterm for medical or other very important reasons, your TA may (at his or her discretion) exempt you from a midterm. |
| If you have an academic question: | I welcome questions during class (ask as many as you want),
after class, during my office hours, and via E-mail.
See your TA in section or during his or her office hours. There are other resources available such as Addison-Wesley's tutoring service, the Student Learning Center, the outreach tutor,... You'll have to determine for yourself whether those resources are helpful. |
|
| Who to see about administrative questions: | ||
| "How do I get administrative questions answered?" | I will answer administrative question only in class so that everyone can hear the answer at the same time. (That means I will not answer administrative questions via e-mail.) A good time to ask is at the beginning of each class when I always call for questions. (If you are shy, ask me just before class starts and I will answer during the class.) Within reason, the Head GSI will answer administration questions. | |
| "How do I get into the course?" | The main method to get into the course is to use Telebears. The only person who may admit additional students with unusual cases is the Economic Department TA Coordinator, Desiree Schaan (dschaan@econ.Berkeley.edu). Only Desiree Schaan can admit you (neither the TAs nor I can admit you). | .|
| "I've been sick" or "My roommate ate my lecture notes." | See your TA.

|
|
| "I'm really sick - I'd like an incomplete." | Get an incomplete grade request form from either Sproul or Campbell Hall, attach the medical records (letters from doctors), have me sign it, then have the undergraduate advisor in the Economics Department sign it if you are a declared econ major (otherwise do what the form says). Then see both your TA and me. Incompletes will not be given in the last week of the term except for true emergencies. All long-standing problems must be dealt with before then. | |
| "I have a learning or other disability." | Tell both your TA and me. Bring me the official UC form and give a copy to your TA. We'll do our best to accommodate you. Note: You must discuss arrangements with me at least a week before each exam. | |
| "I have a questions about my grade..." | See your TA.
Your TA will refer you to me if it is necessary.
