Established in 1981, the Agricultural Economics Reference Organization (AERO) is a the national professional association for librarians & information professionals working in agricultural, applied and environmental economics. The interdisciplinary nature of the literature and variety of topics in these fields poses unique challenges to librarians assisting researchers in these areas.
AERO's mission is to provide a means of sharing information among its members on information sources, techniques or projects which support research in applied, agricultural, or environmental economics, through biannual conferences, collaborative projects and a listserv.
Members are currently from university and government libraries throughout the United States and Canada. AERO welcomes new members and there are no dues. Membership is open to librarians and information professionals supporting research in applied, agricultural and environmental economics in government, education and industry.
AERO holds a national conference every two years at a member's home campus or library. We have just finished our 2009 conference which was held Sept 24-26, 2009 at the University of Minnesota and are beginning work on the next one to be held in 2011.
